Lawsuits against Just for Men hair dye allege that the product may cause serious injuries, including swelling, skin irritation, and severe chemical burns. Our law firm is representing individuals who have experienced burns and other severe reactions after using Just for Men hair dye.
Just for Men is a shampoo formula that covers or eliminates gray hair in men. Although Just for Men has been available for sale for over 30 years, recent complaints about the hair dye have increased in the past decade. Consumer Affairs received approximately 400 reports of chemical burns and allergic reactions since it first warned about the risk of allergic reactions in 2012.
Individual lawsuits in several states and a class action lawsuit have already been filed against the manufacturer, Combe Incorporated, for damages by plaintiffs who experienced skin irritation, burns, and allergic reactions to the product. The plaintiffs claim that they have permanent discoloration and scarring from the hair dye.
One of the main ingredients in Just for Men hair dye is p-Phenylenediamine, or PPD, a chemical substance commonly used in hair coloring products. Sensitivity to PPD can cause burning and stinging. PPD may also produce an allergic reaction in some people, which can result in more severe symptoms such as anaphylactic shock, blisters, severe burning on the neck and scalp, swelling, scarring, and skin discoloration. It is estimated that 5-7% of consumers of the hair dye product are allergic to PPD. PPD was declared Allergen of the Year by the American Contact Dermatitis Society in 2006 and has been suspected of being a carcinogen. An individual may become exposed to PPD through skin contact or inhalation.
