Roundup Lawyer

Our law firm is currently handling lawsuits on behalf of individuals who were exposed to Roundup, an herbicide manufactured by Monsanto/Bayer. Prolonged exposure to glyphosate, the active chemical in Roundup, is associated with an increased risk of developing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other cancers.

What Do We Know About Roundup Lawsuits?

Roundup is the most widely used herbicide in the world. More than 250 million pounds of Roundup are sprayed on lawns, gardens, and playgrounds. Glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup, has been labeled as a probable human carcinogen by the World Health Organization. Farmworkers, landscapers and groundskeepers are the most susceptible to the risks of exposure to Roundup. Glyphosate has also been detected in surface waters and groundwaters. Glyphosate is considered a primary drinking water contaminant of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.

Monsanto/Bayer has reached an $11 billion settlement which accounts for nearly 75% of the 125,000 lawsuits that have been filed.

Roundup Injuries

Several types of cancer have been linked to exposure to Roundup, including non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, leukemia, and other types of lymphoma.

  • Past and future medical expenses;

Roundup and Scientific Studies

Various studies have found that Roundup poses an increased risk of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is a cancer that originates in any white blood cells in the immune system. In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) labeled glyphosate as a probable carcinogen after concluding that glyphosate caused cancer in lab tests involving animals. Research from the IARC indicates that glyphosate causes genetic damage in human cells and that these mutations may later develop into cancerous cells.

In 2019, the journal Mutation Research/Reviews in Mutation Research published a meta-analysis focusing on the groups that are most highly exposed to Roundup. The researchers concluded that there is a strong correlation between glyphosate and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. According to the study, exposure to glyphosates increased the risk of developing cancer by 41 percent.

Liability Law and Roundup

  • Lawsuits against Bayer allege that the manufacturer knew about the risk of cancer and failed to warn consumers that exposure to glyphosate is linked to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
  • Monsanto may have breached its legal duty to market and sell products that are safe for consumer use.
