AmazonBasics Electronics Lawyer

Please note that we are no longer pursuing new AmazonBasics Electronics clients.

Amazon began as a small online bookseller in 1995. Now Amazon is the world’s largest online retailer and generates billions in revenue annually. The company has expanded into streaming services, artificial intelligence, and manufacturing electronic products. People can purchase a variety of electronic products at an affordable price from the AmazonBasics line. But, there have been several hazardous events linked to AmazonBasic products.

Our law firm is currently handling lawsuits on behalf of individuals harmed by AmazonBasics electronics.

What is AmazonBasics?

Amazon launched its Amazon Basics line in 2009. It began as a reasonably priced private label for electronics like cables and plugs. As of 2019, AmazonBasics includes over 2,000 products. Consumers can choose from several categories such as kitchen, pet supplies, travel, personal care and beauty, and sporting goods.

Customers can also find a myriad of electronic products and accessories. AmazonBasics manufactures batteries, keyboards, USB chargers, space heaters, and power banks. However, many products in the Electronics category have put countless consumers in hazardous situations.

Dangers of AmazonBasics Electronics

In 2018, Amazon recalled roughly 260,000 portable power banks after reports of fire and chemical burn hazards. Amazon received 53 reports of the power banks overheating. One person even suffered chemical burns due to contact with the battery acid, and four customers reported property damage. Then in 2019, Amazon recalled 377,000 ceramic space heaters due to fire and burn hazards. Amazon received 25 reports of the space heaters sparking, burning, and overheating.

In 2020 CNN discovered that since 2016, at least 1,500 reviews of over 70 AmazonBasics electronics report catastrophic incidents. Consumers have accused AmazonBasics electronics of:

  • Exploding
  • Catching on fire
  • Smoking
  • Melting
  • Causing electrical malfunctions

Despite the alarming complaints, more than 30 of these items remain available for purchase from Amazon.

After the CNN story broke, in 2021, the Consumer Product Safety Commission began an investigation into AmazaonBasics electronic. The federal agency did not disclose the specific items under review. But, CNN claimed the CPSP examination included eight products highlighted in CNN’s investigation. Among the eight are:

  • Surge protectors
  • Phone charging cords
  • Patio heater
  • Battery charger
  • Voice-activated microwave

AmazonBasics Electronics Injuries

Malfunctioning AmazonBasics electronics can result in severe injuries such as:

  • Burns
  • Electrocution
  • Death
  • Property damage

Do I Qualify for an AmazonBasics Lawsuit?

If an AmazonBasics electronic device injured you or a loved one, you may qualify for an AmazonBasics Electronics lawsuit. A lawsuit for hazardous AmazonBasics electronics can help you recover compensation for:

  • Past and future medical expenses;
  • Past and future pain and suffering;
  • Loss of wages; and
  • Other economic losses related to your injury

Amazon asserts that it takes every report seriously. Yet, Amazon continues to sell unsafe products even after countless public complaints. Lawsuits allege that Amazon neglects to adequately inform the public about the dangers associated with AmazonBasics electronics. Instead, consumers accuse the company of discreetly removing AmazonBasics electronics from the market without notifying its customers. Many people enjoy the ease and affordability of AmazonBasics products. However, faulty AmazonBasics electronics may put your health and home at risk.
