On February 2, 2023, Global Pharma Healthcare recalled all lots of EzriCare Artificial Tears lubricant eye drops. The company notified its U.S. distributors, Aru Pharma Inc. and Delsam Pharma about this recall. It also requested wholesalers, retailers, and customers to stop using the recalled product immediately. 

The recall came after multiple reports of injuries caused by an aggressive bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a rare bacteria that is resistant to certain antibiotics. CDC testing confirmed this dangerous bacteria in multiple opened EzriCare Artificial Tears bottles. An outbreak of this strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa has never been seen before in the United States.
